Something you'll probably never see again

There was a time when kids would caddie at the local club that were within walking distance from their house or at a course that was on the bus line. Caddies were everywhere from your local muni to the most private clubs. Child labor laws, what were those ? we lived in a much hungrier world back then. Now way you’d ever see this again. NO WAY.

So many golfers came out of the rough and tough caddie yards that were at almost every course in the country.

I get it we live in different times and well we have golf carts. But I really hate the fact that a kid of a certain age these days can’t caddie or at least they can’t at the club I grew up as a Looper. I was 14 the day I suited up and headed out for my first 18 with 2 leather golf bags over my shoulders. My pay was $1 a hole plus tip. I felt as rich as anyone in the world when i was paid that $40. I couldn’t wait to do it again. Yes we have Youth on Course but lets face it that’s just some bullshit to give kids discounts on golf. How many of those kids ever caddie.

Looking at this picture below all I can think of is this kid probably felt like a bread winner with his .35 cents plus tip loop if it was even that much when that photo was taken. it was much tougher times and im sure his funds went into the family till to help pay the bills. You’ll never see this again.

I wish caddies were still around. But no way a golf pro is going to let some kid take cart money out of his pocket and no way a kid is going to work for the price you’d pay for a golf cart.
